Waterfront welcomes a New Year and a New Chef

Chinese New Year in 2019 was celebrated last Tuesday, 5th of February at Cafe Uno.  The Chinese year beginning in 2019 is the year of the Pig. “Spring Festival” also known as Chinese New Year, is China’s most important traditional festival, celebrated at the turn of the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar.  It’s all about the hopeful spirit of renewal.

Thus, Chinese New Year is a highly anticipated Chinese holiday of the year.  Here’s the reason why – it is a time of high spirits, energy and numerous joyful reunions.

Since there is a new beginning,  Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao welcomes the Chinese New Year with an abundance of delicious food.  It’s new Property Executive Chef, Chef Anthony Joseph Ante III or Chef Nino, as he was fondly called, was finally appointed last year.

He has curated a generous spread of oriental cuisine featuring a sumptuous six-station offering for the festive culinary fare to celebrate Chinese New Year.

Chef Anthony Joseph Ante III earned a diploma in Culinary Arts and Hotel Management from the International School for Culinary Arts and Hotel Management in Quezon City.

During the special media lunch and gathering, the Lunar Year buffet highlighted a 12-course selection and a special carving of Lechon Macau, Peking Duck and Pork Charsiu for its main dishes.  Signature specialties prepared were Salt & Pepper Squid, Stir Fry Beef and Bok Choy in Oyster Sauce and Kung Pao Chicken.

There were also some hot appetizers, choices of salad, assorted sushi and sashimi made up for starters, a variety of dim sum and delicacies like Tang Yuan, assorted Hopia, Mooncakes and Tikoy were made available to complete the experience.  The attractive part was also the lively performance of the traditional lion dance to usher good luck and prosperity for the Year of the Earth Pig.

Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao wishes for a New Year filled with prosperity, joy and good fortune as Chef Nino brings a fresh, new perspective to the hotel this year 2019.

That’s what everyone has to watch out for because this Executive Chef has a lot to offer in his kitchen as he had already taken over the ruins of the hotel’s banquet events and all-day dining restaurants.
