The Nominations for the 2nd Philippine Sports Tourism Awards are now open.
This was announced during the Sports Tourism Forum at the Grand Men Seng hotel amidst a gathering of sports and tourism officials in Davao City.
Hosted by the City of Davao and supported by the Department of Tourism and the Philippine Sports Commission, the 2017 Davao Forum will be useful to all sports clubs and association officials, hotels and resorts manager, event organizers, corporate sponsors, schools, travel and tour operators, local sports and tourism officials, golf and country club officers, civic and professional club officials.
The Philippine Sports Tourism Awards is the country’s first ever award giving body that aims to recognize stakeholders who have made continuous outstanding contributions to the Sports tourism industry.
This one day forum presented topics such as developing events as a tourism product; planning, staging and managing sports events with emphasis on sponsorship strategies and event marketing; evaluating present sports facilities and sports tourism products; interaction with LGU ( sports and tourism agencies); working with and seeking endorsements from national sports associations; spirit of volunteerism and some case studies.
Charles Lim, a respectable man, founder of the sports awards was on hand to invite nominations. ”The awards celebrates the impactful and inspiring synergy of athletes, local government units and private institutions on organizations, that encourage different sports programs that showcase the richness of the country’s tourism landscape”, he said.

The 2nd PSTA will be held in Manila this coming November 22, 2017.
The first Sports Tourism Forum was held last 2004 in Cebu and from then on scores of seminars and workshops were held in Subic, Laoag, Davao, Bacolod, Clark, Manila, Cagayan de Oro and Puerto Princesa.
There were about 11 categories of awards for that and this happened last 2016, namely Destination of the Year, Organizer of the Year (private or government); Event of the year (domestic & international); Sports Association of the year; Hotel/Resort of the year; Tour Operator of the year, Destination Marketing of the Year; Event Sponsorship of the year and Charity Event of the Year.
Moreover, this will be a good chance for Davao City to be known as a sports tourism destination.
The PSTA is supported by the Department of Tourism, the Philippine Sports Commission and PAGCOR.
